As some frequent TV watchers might know, a new reality show was introduced to the world recently. It’s called The X Factor and some think it might cause somewhat of a controversial strike towards the TV world. Watching reality shows and other series isn’t really my type of thing, I’m that type of person who just turns the TV during dinner and turns it off 20 minutes later. But in this case, I thought it was in some way peculiar that Simon Cowell, an old judge from the very famous reality show “American Idol” would later on create another show so similar to the one he was in before, and expect to just take American Idol’s spotlight away.
I ended up watching the X factor a few days ago, and that same day I read a couple of reviews on it that different news stations had made. The X factor was created by Simon Cowell and many other colleagues he has, and is all based on someone who just has that X factor that can make an impact on the world. Contestants are only singers, much like in American idol, and they attend to trials in different cities around the US. After judges see them sing and perform in the stage, they decide if they go to the next round or not. Once again, the whole process of the show is very similar to the one of American Idol.
After watching the show, I decided that it wasn’t as great of a deal as some people said it was. Reading the reviews just backed up my opinion. I can’t fully understand how Simon Cowell decides to start a new show, with judges that are extremely similar to those that worked with him back in American Idol, and even Paula Abdul who was also a judge in American idol! I want to wait and compare the number of expectators between both the X Factor and American Idol when they are both on TV simultaneously. My guess is that American Idol will still have more viewers, since it is the classic show. What I must admit was good about this new reality show was, that the beginning tryouts are as funny as they used to be when Simon was in American idol. Not because I want to be mean or anything, but simple can have some veeery funny singing voices.
